Clubs

Free Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club is free to all pupils who wish to take advantage of the facility. Parents must register their children when they visit the breakfast club for the very first time. The club opens at 8:00 a.m. and the last breakfast is served at 8:30 a.m. A variety of healthy options are available from juice, cereal, fruit and toast. The children are well supervised and enjoy the opportunity to socialise.

Sports Club

After School Sports Club is run by the Urdd. Timetable is available from the school.

The children have opportunities to take part in a variety of activities including soccer, TAG rugby, netball, rounders, athletics, fun team games, tennis and golf.

If it happens to rain, the staff responsible arrange suitable activities indoors.

It is also an opportunity to prepare school teams for local competitions.

Urdd

Pupils in Key Stage 2 are encouraged to become members of the Urdd. The dates for the term will be decided and given to the parents at the beginning of each term. From 3:15 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. the pupils who have joined the Urdd as members are involved in a variety of activities. The teaching and support staff on a rota basis assume responsibility for the programme of events. These range from fun games, sporting activities, quizzes and art and craft work.

During the school year teams from the school participate and compete in the Urdd’s sporting events that take place annually. Teams compete in football, rugby and netball tournaments within the Mynydd Mawr area and if successful go on to compete in the West Myrddin area finals.

Children from the school are given opportunities to become involved with the Urdd Eisteddfod activities.

It is customary for the pupils in Years 5 and 6 to attend the Urdd Camp at Llangrannog each year along with pupils from other Gwendraeth Valley Schools.
